In This Week’s Show, episode 176, Ben Carson travels to Mississippi to deny climate changing nanites because science is of Satan!
Now, grab a beer and help us test the god hypothesis — because, while Artio ahr-EE-O (a shapeshifting Celtic bear goddess) hasn’t struck us down yet, we are trying her patience!
Shea’s Life Lesson
This week I learned that women have a hard time deciding what to eat because the last time they chose, in the garden of eden, they doomed humanity.
Jenn’s Actual Lesson
Did you know Artio, a bear goddess from modern-day Switzerland, was celebrated as a harbinger of Spring? She was thought to hibernate in the winter and emerged in the spring, symbolizing rebirth and a shaman’s return with new wisdom and insights to share with the world.
But before we get to all that, let’s have a beer!

Let’s have a moment of silence for the passing of Stephen Hawking… And, even more tragically, Sudan the last male Northern White Rhino.
No new patrons… so you should sign up and get this month’s 4 More Beers, which is over an hour long!
Speaking of beer, thanks to Kevin for sending us a 6 pack of Louisiana’s own Abita beer. He sent us The Boot
There’s a new Kickstarter that’s attempting to raise $1200 to print a series of atheist “Chick Tracts” by Satanist cartoonist Tabitha Slander (great name, btw). Let’s throw them a few bucks and get some alternative “literature” out there. They are up to $765 as of recording time and we have until April 19 to get it funded – bit.ly/undefined
The only atheist podcast I listen to.
I was turned onto W4W by Robert & Amy of Secular Yakking. When they decided to end their podcast I had to fill the void! I love W4W. Great people who have a funny delivery to some of the shittiest news they report on. I’m talking to you, Tangerine Donny!
Keep up the fine work!
Finally, we need to wish fantastic fan Tara a happy birthday!
If you want to wish Tara a happy birthday make a donation in her name to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at AFSP.org, link in the show notes:
HL1 – Climate Change? Normal winter weather? No way, it’s a Jewish conspiracy!
Washington Post – bit.ly/undefined
Please don’t think just because a politician has a D after their name they can’t be wacky as all hell. Please meet Trayon White Sr., a Washington DC council member from Ward 8. Friday, March 17th he posted a video on his Facebook page, where he is filming snow beginning to fall in the nation’s capital.
Beautiful, right? And not exactly unusual in March. Well, I think everything would have been just fine if he hadn’t decided to narrate:
“Man, it just started snowing out of nowhere this morning, man. Y’all better pay attention to this climate control, man, this climate manipulation,” he says. “And D.C. keep talking about, ‘We a resilient city.’ And that’s a model based off the Rothschilds controlling the climate to create natural disasters they can pay for to own the cities, man. Be careful.”
WTF, right? Rothschilds? Climate manipulation? What does that even MEAN? The Rothschilds are a famous European business dynasty descended from Mayer Amschel Rothschild, an 18th-century Jewish banker who lived in what is today Frankfurt, Germany. The family has repeatedly been subjected over the years to anti-Semitic Conspiracy Theories alleging that they and other Jews clandestinely manipulate world events for their advantage. Basically, they are the Illuminati for anti-Semites. Some conspiracy theorists also think the Rothschilds, acting in conjunction with the Rockefeller family, have the technology to manipulate the weather — for example, by causing freak storms that wreak havoc on people, farms, and livestock.
Creator of YouTube video ‘Kill Cities: Designed by Rothschild & Rockefeller: Resilient Cities are Human Death Zones’ Internet commentator Deborah Tavares — a Northern California resident who argues, among other things, that climate change and wireless electricity meters are tools in a plot of global domination — calls the Resilient Cities program a “diabolical” effort to manipulate people.
“This a genocide program. We are being moved now into what they call ‘resilient cities.’ And it’s important to get this word out, start looking it up: Resilient cities. Understand what this is: This is a plan brought in by Rothschild and Rockefeller.”
She adds, “We’re being categorized as lunatics, but we know that the weather is massively and completely, artificially controlled.”
Happily(? I guess?), it sounds like this MAY have been a case of ignorance for councilman White, but that doesn’t exactly make me feel better. Although White has not make an official reply, he has sent a series of texts, expressing surprise his remarks could be construed as anti-Semitic and stating: “I work hard everyday to combat racism and prejudices of all kinds. I want to apologize to the Jewish Community and anyone I have offended. The Jewish community have been allies with me in my journey to help people. I did not intend to be anti-Semitic, and I see I should not have said that after learning from my colleagues.”
Moral of the story: don’t post shit if you’re a public figure without knowing what you are talking about or, conversely, don’t be an anti-semitic wacko.
HL2 – Mississippi again becomes #1 for a shitty reason: The state with the US’s most restrictive abortion laws!
The Slot – bit.ly/2HVrlxE
Not content to rest on its laurels of atrocious education, deeply entrenched racism and generally widespread poverty, Miss. has decided to include leading the charge against women’s reproductive rights to their list of winning fails.
Gov Phil Bryant signed House Bill 1510 into law Monday, March 19th, effective immediately. This Bill, also known as gag the Gestational Age Act, bans abortion after 15 weeks of gestation and makes no exceptions for rape or incest; it does, however, allow for exceptions of the mother’s life is in danger or if the fetus has medical problems that would make it “incompatible with life.”
For reference: most states have a 20wk ban as no fetus has survived prior to a 20wk gestation. This Bill could potentially change how Roe v Wade is interpreted due to a mandate on fetal viability, as the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that women should be able to obtain an abortion at least until the point of fetal viability. Basically, as medical science progresses, fetuses can be viable earlier (a Texas baby born at 21 weeks in 2014 is currently the most premature known survivor). The Mississippi legislatures are contending that advances could make fetuses at 15 weeks viable in the future. Which is…probably not true. And even if the fetus could survive a bit, it’s doubtful it would have much quality of life.
Per Gov Bryant on Twitter: “As I have repeatedly said, I want Mississippi to be the safest place in America for an unborn child. House Bill 1510 will help us achieve that goal.” Unfortunately, this commitment to caring does not extend to children out of the womb: Miss has the highest rate of infant mortality and the second highest rate of child mortality in the country.
Jackson Women’s Health, Mississippi’s only abortion clinic, said they would sue, and made good on that promise soon after Bryant signed the bill.
HL3 – Ben Carson is…still around. And women BE SHOPPING!
Something that we sane people somehow didn’t foresee when SCROTUS was appointing members of his Administration of Doom: several of them would spend stupid amounts of money on really frivolous things.
I guess we were all distracted by erosion of civil liberties, environmental destruction, Russian election involvement, blah blah blah… Anyway, yes, several members of the Rotting Pig Carcass & Chief’s Cabinet have been caught up in Roman Emperor-style attempts at furnishings and lifestyle: Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke spent $139, 000 on “upgrading” three sets of double doors in his office. Veteran Affairs Secretary David Shulkin used public money to cover expenses for his wife’s 10-day visit to Europe. EPA chief Scott Pruitt has been found to have spent more than $43,000 for a soundproof telephone booth in his office. Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, who resigned in September after spending over $400,000 on private flights.
We can add to this embarrassing list everyone’s favorite narcoleptic former brain surgeon, Ben Carson. The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (which is facing a multitude of various financial cuts, mainly affecting lower-income Americans) has been caught ordering a $31,000 dining room set for his HUD office. What exactly should a man do when caught red-handed with unnecessary and downright tone-deaf overspending? Why blame a woman of course! Carson’s defense is: My Wife Did It.
“I was told the dining room set needed to be changed. I said, “Why?” “Because people are being stuck by nails, a chair collapsed with somebody sitting in it, it’s 50 years old.” I said, “OK, we can potentially do that.” I asked my wife, also, to help me with that. They showed us some catalogues. The prices were beyond what I wanted to pay. I made it clear that that just didn’t seem right to me. And I left it with my wife, I said, “help choose something,” but I said, “the money that is gonna be used, we need to take care of the deputy secretary’s office, and whatever is left over, take care of the dining room furniture.” It was very important to do that, and I realized that, but I had so many other things to do at that point. I had no assistant secretaries, I had no deputy secretary, I was running from place to place dealing with a lot of important issues so I really wasn’t concerned about furniture. The next thing that I, quite frankly, heard about it, was that this $31,000 table had been bought. I said, “What the heck is that all about?” I investigated, I immediately had it canceled. Not that we don’t need the furniture, but I thought that that was excessive.”
The man who claimed pyramids were used as grain storage also appears to be bullshitting about the state of the “50 yr old” chair. An aide had mentioned a concern that a chair MAY collapse, but one has not.
I’m sure his wife told Ben the incorrect version.

God Can Debug Your Nanites –bit.ly/2u1suS8
Available now at patreon.com/w4w for as little as a buck! You’ll also get access to our other show 4 More Beers for free! We released episode 17 just a day ago and it was over an hour long. They announce our next four beers but we also do at least one story, a Faith In Beer Restored, and in this one a bunch of trivia!
No word yet on whether or not he’ll release the Extremus Bible to the masses. Guess we’ll just have to see how bad this Thanos thing gets…
In honor of our dear friends over at Atheism 101 who try so hard to educate the masses, I wanted to make sure we all know what we need to in order to be safe this Easter.
From episodes 123 and 157 fame, The Other Side of Darkness blog owner, ex-witch Beth has figured out what we need to do to protect ourselves from the mind-controlling sound waves created by Illuminati witches for Easter.
Step one… get Jesus out of your sinuses.
I’m not sure that’s part of the mind control thing, just in general…
Fat Tuesday is apparently the real problem. Is that she ignores lent and Easter… wait, what?
But it’s caught up with her – you see, over the last few weeks witches have been attacking her and her family. She’s been “seriously struggling for about two weeks now. [She’s} been struggling with self-punishment, anger, shame, condemnation, and self-flagellation.” She’s not sure what was going on, might be the depression and anxiety, maybe — but God told her that “Easter is the time of the year when “the world deals with the weight of sin and condemnation.” Luckily for her, that was exactly what she was dealing with! How handy is that?
See, god explained to her that it wasn’t mental illness because “it’s all based on mind control programming surrounding the Easter season.” Apparently, this caused her to rejoice, which is an odd reaction to finding out from your invisible friend that invisible enemies are controlling your brain, but who am I to judge? She goes on the say that she’s happy “there is not something wrong with me. It was not because I have done something wrong or that I am a bad person. It was Satan.” She explains that it all starts on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday … I think the timeline is getting a little fucky at this point so let’s go to the tape: bit.ly/2IGR3Hz
Aaron’s Note: For the record, I did try to clean up her audio by boosting levels, removing background sounds, and cutting out a lot of weird pauses… but there’s only so much one can do.
Naturally, we don’t know the devices are there because … reasons, and we can’t hear the signals because they were made by dogs.
But fear not. Apparently, you can ‘pray the nanites away’ … along with the self-flagellation, guilt, and the goddess Ostara. And it totes megoats worked!
She ends the video with a 10-minute diatribe… except not as well worded as some other diatribes we know… about how great god is at debugging the nanites fucking up your brain. Then she prays… for like five minutes, and I gotta say, there were a lot of edit points in that prayer for someone who can literally talk to god directly…
Note: we give this lady some shit about self-flagellation because it brings to mind images of monks or priests in movies whipping themselves all crazy-style. Or Game of Thrones… can’t believe no one bad a “SHAME!” joke eh? But self-harm is no joke and it’s ok to reach out for help. If you or someone you know is having difficulty with self-harm call 1-800-334-HELP (pretty sure that’s 1-800-334-4357), the Self Injury Foundation’s 24-hour national crisis line.
Turns Out When You Use Good Science, You Get Good Information –
The national academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine found that abortions are overwhelmingly safe and effective. The study, The Safety, and Quality of Abortion Care in the United States, found that 90% of Abortions occur within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy and complications are rare:
“Legal abortions — whether by medication, aspiration, D&E [dilation and evacuation], or induction — are safe. Serious complications are rare and occur far less frequently than during childbirth. Safety is enhanced when the abortion is performed as early in pregnancy as possible.”
CEO of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Hal Lawrence says. “Abortion is safer when it’s performed earlier in gestation, and so delaying and making people wait and go through hoops of unnecessary, extra procedures does not improve the safety. And actually by having them delay can actually worsen the safety.“
Further, the study found that “much of the published literature of these topics (Future childbearing and pregnancy outcomes, risk of breast cancer, mental health disorders, and premature death) does not meet scientific standards for rigorous, unbiased research.” Meaning, in a nutshell, that it’s bullshit.
On the other hand, high-quality research concludes that “…having an abortion does not increase a woman’s risk of secondary infertility, pregnancy-related hypertensive disorders, abnormal placentation, preterm birth, or breast cancer.”
Regarding mental health effects, “The committee identified a wide array of research in whether abortion increases women’s risk of depression, anxiety, and/or posttraumatic stress disorder and concludes that having an abortion does not increase a woman’s risk of these mental health disorders.”
Safety was addressed too. “The clinical evidence clearly shows that legal abortions in the United States–whether by medication, aspiration, D&E, or induction–are safe and effective. Serious complications are rare. But the risk of a serious complication increases with weeks’ gestation.”
Finally, I want to mention that the study said, “Most abortions can be provided safely in office-based settings. No special equipment or emergency arrangements are required for medication abortions. For other abortion methods, the minimum facility characteristics depend on the level of sedation that is used.”
“The extensive body of research documenting the safety of abortion care in the United States reflects the outcomes of abortions provided by thousands of individual clinicians.”
There’s more to the discussion! This discussion ran a little longer than usual so we had to trim it up. Get the last ~5 minutes, along with the above story, at patreon.com/w4w We also add outtakes to the Patreon cut. Just say’n…

Faith In Humanity Restoring
Doodling Away Gender Stereotypes – bit.ly/2pztiZj
When US children are asked to draw a scientist, today roughly one in three will doodle a woman. That’s a major shift since the 1960s and 1970s when fewer than 1 in 100 kids would depict a female scientist, a new study finds. But although stereotypes that associate men with science seem to have weakened over time, most US children still see science as a male profession.
A team of psychology researchers combined and analyzed the results of 78 “draw-a-scientist” studies that examined doodles made between 1966 and 2016 (see ‘Sketching scientists’). Together, these analyses have asked more than 20,000 US kids from kindergarten to high school to depict a researcher.
“Children draw what they see,” says Toni Schmader, a psychological scientist at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. The findings suggest that kids need to learn more about women’s roles in science because stereotypes can affect what children think they can and cannot do, Schmader says. “If we can change these representations, young girls might more easily be able to envision a future for themselves in science.”
